Event details: Charter Boat category
This year the Charter boat category is no longer an open-entry event. Boats are being chartered by the event partners. Sea Angling Classic are however pleased to announce there are a limited number of places on the charter boats available and these will be on a complimentary basis.
To be in with a chance of a free place simply like and share the Charter post on the SAC Facebook. Winners will be drawn on the 1st of June. This will be an individual event with prizes provided by the sponsors for the longest of each of the 5 target species.

The Charter category is run on a simplified format tested and approved at the various Let’s Meet & Fish event held this year.

Strictly Catch, Photograph, Measure, and Release
1 rod may be used per angler at a time
No other rods may be rigged
Charter boat skippers can net fish for competitors and assist with measuring if required.
Fishing boundaries are provided to charter boat skippers who must NOT exceed them
GPS trackers and cameras put on all competing boats

MEASURING THE FISH – Measuring boards will be provided to charter boat skippers
Fish must be over the legal size to count
Fish must be measured using provided measuring board as follow:
* Bass and bream: right flank down with lips touching the headboard and tail flat. The tail can be pointed.
* All rays: measured across the wings. One wing clearly touching the headboard.
* Smooth-hounds and tope: belly down and nose tip touching the headboard.
In the event the lip/nose/tip of the wing does not touch the headboard, it doesn’t 10 cm deduction will apply. If after deduction the minimal size of the target specie is not attained the fish is disqualified.
If any part of the fish crosses the centimetre line the length will be recorded as the next full centimetre
RECORDING THE CATCH – HOW TO TAKE YOUR PICTURES
2 photographs to be taken
1 on the measuring board
1 with the fish presented safely by the angler. Try to avoid caps and sunglasses
The competitor’s name tag Must be shown on the measuring board photograph
Photographs are to be sent to the allocated number provided in the morning using WhatsApp
ALLOCATION OF PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded for the Longest of each of the target species.
The overall winner with be the individual angler catching the longest combined length of each of the 5 target species (1 of each).
Prizes will only be given to competitors present at prize-giving and only one prize per person can be claimed.
In the event of a tie, the winner will be the one who caught their winning fish first (as shown on WhatsApp).
If there is still a tie the winner will be based on the time of their first Bream, Bass, Ray, Smoothhound, and Tope in this order.
Shoreline Cleanup
There is no entry fee for this event but anglers are invited to join Angling Spirit ethos by doing a shoreline cleanup and posting images on their social network along with these hashtags and logos #spiritofangling and #friendsofthesolent.
