Let’s Meet & Fish Portsmouth itinerary
07.30- 08.30  collect measuring board Gunwharf Quays marina
09.00 – leave Gunwharf and fishing time commences
16.00 boats back at Gunwharf Quays followed by competitors’ social gathering at Eden
17.00 – 17.30 Prize giving, Eden
16.00 – 18.00 A chance to talk to the event sponsors and previous competitors, Great opportunity to check out the new 2023 Extreme 745 Game King prize boat, kitted out with the Ultimate Lowrance fishing system. powered by a tremendous 300hp V6 Yamaha motor and even has the Helm-master Joystick control complete with GPS anchor lock sitting on an amazing SBS Trailer.

Rules

  • Life jackets must be worn at all times when on the water.
  • Strictly Catch, Photograph, Measure, and Release.
  • Max 4 rods per boat, 3 hooks per rod.
  • No restriction on the fishing zone.
  • Only target fish will count: Bass, Rays, Bream, Smoothhound, Tope
  • Fish must be over the legal size to count
  • Fish must be measured using provided measuring board as follow:
    * Bass and bream: right flank down with lips touching the headboard and tail flat. The tail can be pointed.
    All rays: measured across the wings. One wing clearly touching the headboard.
     Smooth-hounds and tope: belly down and nose tip touching the headboard.
  • Photographs of fish are to be sent via WhatsApp to the phone number allocated on the day. Only pictures received from registered phones will count. See the link above to complete the onsite registration form.
  • Longest Fish of the Day wins
  • In the event of a tie, the time of the first fish caught will be the winner. If there is still a tie the order will be longer Bream, Bass, Ray Smoothhound, and Tope in this order.
  • Prizes will be awarded for the Longest of each of the target species
  • Prizes will only be given to competitors present at prize-giving.
  • There will be a raffle of any prize not won or allocated on the day with the proceeds going towards the Sea Angling Classic Sea Grass initiative.

Shoreline Cleanup

There is no entry fee for this event but anglers are invited to join Angling Spirit ethos by doing a shoreline cleanup and posting images on their social network along with these hashtags and logos #spiritofangling and #friendsofthesolent.
